SCHOLARSHIP AND GRANT
INFORMATION FOR ALL EMMAUS HS STUDENTS
 

As a student at Emmaus High School, you are eligible to apply for grants, and in your Senior Year scholarships and awards to assist in your future education.

This page tells you about these programs, how they are awarded, and what you must do to apply for them.

The Kiwanis Club of Emmaus supports the youth of the East Penn school system by a variety of efforts that include sponsorship of the EHS Key Club, and Builder’s Clubs in the Eyer Middle School and the Lower Macungie Middle School. The Kiwanis Club of Emmaus also awards a number of scholarships to East Penn youth as follows:

  LAWRENCE W. CARRAHER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP  

The Lawrence W. Carraher Scholarship is awarded to one graduating senior member of EHS who has demonstrated outstanding performance in one or more EHS varsity sports programs while maintaining a high level of scholastic achievement. The award is a $1,000 award given at the rate of $250 per year for four years.

This award is given to memorialize past Kiwanis President Lawrence Carraher who had a deep and long-term interest in supporting and developing young people through organized sports.
To apply for this scholarship, submit the EHS standard scholarship request form and academic information release available through the Guidance Office, plus a typewritten essay.

  WALTER C. STOUDT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP  

The Kiwanis Walter C. Stoudt Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior at EHS who is a member of the EHS Key Club, and who is planning to continue his/her education at an institution of higher learning.  The value of the scholarship is $3,000, awarded at the rate of $750 per year for four years. Three criteria for selection of the winner are (1) Service to the EHS and to the community; (2) Scholastic achievement while in high school; and (3) Financial need. This award memorializes Walter C. Stoudt, the founding President of the Kiwanis Club of Emmaus who had and displayed a deep interest in helping young folk achieve their maximum potential.

To apply for this scholarship, submit the EHS standard scholarship request form and academic information release, plus a typewritten essay that describes your service, your education plans (including college and curriculum), how you and your family plan on financing your education (including all other scholarships and grants), and any extenuating circumstances.

Applicants are urged to fully document all service and leadership positions in Key Club and through other organizations.

  EMMAUS KIWANIS SERVICE AWARD  

The Kiwanis Service Scholarship is a one-time amount of $500, which is awarded to a graduating senior at EHS who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in serving his high school and community.  Winner selection criteria are (1) The applicant’s service record either within the EHS Key Club or through an outside Community organization (such as volunteer fire/ambulance companies, the local hospitals, nursing homes, etc.)   (2) Specific plans to continue their life development at a recognized organization such as a school of higher education, a recognized nursing program, a trade apprenticeship program, a US governmental or military organization, etc.  This award typifies the basic Kiwanis mission of service to others.

To apply for this award, submit the standard EHS scholarship request form, a detailed accounting of your service through Key Club and all other organizations (both at EHS and outside of school), and a brief typewritten essay about your service.

  EMMAUS KIWANIS YOUTH LEADERSHIP GRANTS  

Kiwanis Leadership awards are available in amounts of $50 to $200 to East Penn students who are planning to attend an educational institutional program such as Model UN, Presidential Classroom, People to People program, Congressional Page program, and the like. The maximum amount available to support this program is $500 per year.  Generally awarded to underclassmen, application is made by letter to the Kiwanis Club of Emmaus. These awards are given to help young students experience the possibilities of a wide range of life experiences.

  DR. WARREN M. HAMSCHER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP  

The Kiwanis Dr. Warren M. Hamscher Memorial Scholarship is awarded to one graduating senior who has demonstrated leadership through participation in EHS organized sports programs as well as in scholastic achievements. It is a one-time payment of $1,000 to the school selected by the winner. This award memorializes Dr. Warren M. Hamscher, a charter member and past President of the Kiwanis Club of Emmaus, who excelled in baseball, football, and track while at Emmaus High School.
